JUICE successfully completes its Earth flyby!
We’re proud to look back on a major milestone for European Space Agency - ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE).
On September 28, 2026, JUICE successfully performed its Earth flyby, a crucial gravity-assist manoeuvre on its long journey to the Jupiter system. After the Lunar-Earth flyby in 2024 and the Venus flyby in 2025, this latest encounter further shapes the spacecraft’s trajectory toward its arrival at Jupiter in 2031, where it will study the giant planet and its ocean-bearing moons: Ganymede, Europa and Callisto.
Sodern is proud to contribute to this ambitious mission with two reinforced Hydra star trackers and a NAV CAM (navigation camera).
During the latest Earth flyby, our NAV CAM captured stunning images of Madagascar and the Moon. These new images, now available, are another great demonstration of its performance in real flight conditions.
