Big News for European Space Safety!

Sodern, Eutelsat and ArianeGroup have been selected by EU SST to develop a new generation of space-based “opportunistic” Space Situational Awareness (SSA) capabilities.

What makes this project unique

This initiative goes beyond traditional concepts by combining ground-based systems with in-orbit data collection, without additional hardware, enabling a truly hybrid SSA approach at scale, without impacting satellite missions.

Sodern's innovation

We are turning standard star trackers into orbital safety sensors.
By leveraging the large volume of Sodern’s Auriga™ star trackers already flying onboard satellites, we enable the detection of nearby objects directly from space, without additional hardware.

Eutelsat’s role

With its operational OneWeb LEO constellation, Eutelsat aims at enabling real in-orbit data acquisition and validation.
This allows the project to prepare to move from concept to operational service, generating SSA data at scale without impacting satellite missions.

Based on a 15 years track-record with the largest European network of optical sensors, we are turning data into a SSA & SDA high value portfolio.
