Multi-Spectral Filters Assembly
Need Help Choosing?

Multi-spectral filters known as ‘butcher block filters', are key components of passive imaging sensors used in Earth observation satellites. They enable the separation of the light spectrum into several specific bands, allowing the analysis of phenomena such as vegetation, urbanization, or environmental changes. Sodern's multi-spectral filters are notably onboard Earth Observation projects for the French Defense, METimage, Pléiades HR & Neo, ...

Filters Assembly
Multi-spectral filters are complex components that combine extremely precise geometric and optical characteristics. They enable the capture of different wavelengths from VNIR to SWIR and require significant expertise to manufacture.
To ensure a high quality image without artifacts, all production steps are carried out at Sodern using specific industrial means: spectral measurements, inspections, slicing, and assembling.

Sodern’s industrial capabilities
Sodern relies on state-of-the-art production facilities and processes to design, manufacture, and test its multi-spectral filters.
- Image Quality Assessment: Comprehensive performance evaluation covering radiometric, spectral, geometric, stray light, and radiation resistance characteristics.
- Thin Film Deposition: Use of advanced processes such as Plasma Assisted Reactive Magnetron Sputtering (PARMS) for high-performance coatings.
- Customization: Our filters are custom-designed to meet customer requirements, with lengths ranging from 10mm to 120mm and up to 50 distinct spectral bands.
