Sodern-Pharao

Did you know? As we wrap up World Space Week 2025, it's the perfect moment to spotlight Sodern's pivotal role in space innovation!

Sodern proudly contributed to the PHARAO cold atom cesium clock, a groundbreaking project led by the CNES and launched in April 2025. Two key subsystems of PHARAO were developed and delivered by Sodern: the Cesium Tube and the Laser Source.

Assembled by the CNES and LTE, PHARAO is the core of the European ACES mission (Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space), developped by Airbus Defence and Space and led by the European Space Agency - ESA, aiming to push the boundaries of the accuracy of time in micro-gravity.

To celebrate the World Space Week 2025, we had the privilege of hosting experts from the CNES, LTE, and CNRS for an insightful internal session. They shared the project's history, milestones, and the latest updates on PHARAO's performance in space, currently onboard of the ISS (International Space Station).

Our thanks go to Dr. Massonnet Didier, Dr. Christophe Salomon, Dr. Carlos L. Garrido Alzar and Dr. Philippe Laurent for their visit!
